Fayde watched as the storm rolled in from far out at sea. Flashes of lightning brought the waves into sharp focus for just a moment, seeming to freeze the ocean in place before darkness surrounded him once more and the roll of thunder drowned even the sound of the tide. Warm salty air whistled past his face and tugged his hair, and from distant rocks he heard the call of sirens. Voices like the sweetest sultry music, trying to lure him further into the water, but he kept the waves at his thighs.
